Jennifer Lopez is an American actress, pop/R&B singer, dancer, record producer, and television personality. She is commonly referred to by her nickname, J.Lo

After an early start as an actress appearing in several movies and television shows, Lopez burst into the music industry with the release of her debut album, On the 6, in 1999, which reached number 8 on the Billboard 200, and spawned the hit singles, "If You Had My Love", as well as "Waiting for Tonight". "If You Had My Love" reached number-one on the Billboard Hot 100, while "Waiting for Tonight" reached number eight.

Her second studio album, J.Lo, was very successful internationally, reaching number-one on the Billboard 200, and spawning four major hit singles, including "Love Don't Cost a Thing", "Play", "Ain't it Funny" and "I'm Real". "Love Don't Cost a Thing" reached number three on the Billboard 200, while "Play" reached number eighteen. The remixes for "Ain't it Funny" and "I'm Real" both reached number-one.

Alhough Lopez is recognized internationally for her Latin pop/R&B musical stylings and numerous acting roles in the film industry, she is also renowned for her upbeat, fast-paced, latin-influenced dance routines and choreography, as well as her unique fashion sense.

As of 2011, Jennifer Lopez became a judge on the popular reality television singing competition, American Idol, alongside musician Randy Jackson, and veteran music legend Steven Tyler, replacing former judge and songwriter, Kara DiGuardi.
